I am a Leicester girl and proud of my city.
I am also Spoken Word Editor for the Midlands for Sabotage Reviews
I am one of the directors of Off the Fence Theatre Company CIC who create and tour innovative and engaging new writing.
Off the Fence also created and now programme Upstairs at the Western, Leicester’s first pub theatre, featuring brave, inspiring and engaging performances.
As Media Manager I write all content (online and in print) for Off the Fence and Upstairs at the Western, with the added thrill (for me) of being directly involved in Leicester’s vibrant cultural community.
In 2014, together with Gary Phillpott, I set up De Montfort Books Ltd, a small, independent press which focuses on publishing play texts and poetry. In 2015 I edited Leicester-based poet Richard Byrt’s first poetry collection, Devil’s Bit.
I can also provide proofreading, copyediting and script-editing services and am experienced in writing for business and funding bids.
I was Feature Writer and Sub Editor with Pukaar Magazine between 2012 and 2013.
Between 2012 and 2013 I was Blog Editor for the inaugural Nottingham Festival of Words
My commended poem ‘Gem’ will feature in the 2014 Mother’s Milk Books Writing Prize anthology.
My poems have been published in Here Comes Everyone, Hearing Voices (Vol 1). In 2012 I was shortlisted in Crystal Clear Creators’ Poetry Pamphlets.
My articles have been published in Spirit & Destiny magazine, Pukaar Magazine, Here Comes Everyone, Western Park Gazette.
I have organised and led two events for Leicester’s Everybody’s Reading festivals in 2012 and 2014 including a community writing event at Aylestone Meadows and Writing for Performance workshops.
I am organising and running a series of Writing Poetry workshops during Upstairs at the Western’s Spring 2015 season, see our full programme here
